In this hands-on gathering we will cover a few ways of making plants into medicine. We will explore different methods for a great cup of tea and introduce the basics of creating tinctures. Familiar plants will guide us through the medicine making process as we seek real practical basics to get us started creating our own apothecary. We will get to directly experience a handful of plants along the journey and come away with our own tincture too!

Queer Figure Drawing!

Figure drawing is the practice of drawing nude, semi nude or costumed models. It is wonderful practice for all artists at any level! This is a traditional figure drawing session in most ways except that it is aimed at queer artists and models--in the belief that queer bodies, like all bodies, are beautiful and deserve visibility and artistic appreciation in a safe environment. This is a body-positive space meaning we welcome models of all genders, body types, abilities and racial/ethnic backgrounds. No instruction will be given, you are welcome to stay as long as youd like during the session.

A Talk on Devils Club

Devil's Club is a treasured and versatile Pacific Northwestern plant offering us resilience building medicine for our bodies and spirits. This plant is especially indicated for the more difficult transitions in our lives; its medicine is about guiding us back to ourselves and our own light. We will begin this class with a plant meditation with Devil's Club, and hold space for those interested in sharing their experience. In this class we will discuss both practical application for physical use, as well as energetic and spiritual indications of Devil's Club. We will also talk about how to create a code of ethics and engage in reciprocity when interacting with wild and sacred indigenous plants. This talk is appropriate for both beginner and advanced levels of herbalism.
Seasonal Wellness: Herbs for Colds and Flu

With cold and flu season just around the corner now is a great time to create some herbal strategies. This class will focus on the place those pesky critters often invade, the respiratory system, and how we can use herbs when illness strikes. We will start with a brief overview of how the respiratory system works, and then go into the basic of herbal energetics. This will give us the tools to discuss different types of illness and how we can work with different herbs to bring the body back in balance. We will then put all this together with the creation of a tasty cough syrup for folks to take home.
